If I were 10 years younger and single, I would move to South Loop. That’s just not me anymore.

This is most people in their early to mid 20s vs them in their late 20s and 30s

You sound like someone who has never been to a decent sized suburb.

I'll be 32 this year, and we just moved to South Lamar. If not for covid, we'd be out on the town every weekend.

Probably childless I'd presume? You'd be in the burbs not too long after your wife showed you the two blue lines

We live in the city limits but only have one school aged kid. We'd be in the burbs pretty quickly if we had more.

12-13k isn't a deal breaker for us. 24-36k would absolutely be.

We are too old to have more now anyway. I'd be in my 60s when the little shite graduated HS at this point.

Our kids wouldn't be going public school anyways so we wouldn't need a certain ISD. The only other reasons people move out there is to buy cheaper housing, but that's not too much of a savings anymore. We can afford the city just fine so we'll be here.

I don't bash the burbs too hard.

I lived in them for a few years. Nice, but I prefer the city.

Don't you live in Dallas? What does an average private school run there? I'd assume it's more than Nola or BR.

Most people can learn to stomach the 45 minute commute once they see the prices. Your lives would change so much post kids that most people don't care anyway. You'd remember that time y'all walked to the bar 3 years ago

Moving to the burbs was one of the worst things about having kids.

IMO: country > city > burbs

live in burbs now. Gonna move a few miles past the burbs in a couple years and build something on 3 acres.

I definitely enjoy my weekends and going into the city, but in regards to daily life, i like being a little ways away from my neighbors.

Central florida is different though that it isn't hard to get in and out of the city unlike South La.
