Wouldn't surprise me..lot of big companies use that OS. Gotta keep that $$ flowing right

We are contractually obligated to purchase software through Microsoft. The one issue is that the middle man is in Germany...So we never get software immediately.

Not the ones in my lab specifically. They are stand alone units with no "OS" per say.

Hence why it's funny because I legit have no clue how that could of happened, but it was listed in the meeting notes of what was "infected."

I'm guessing it's 3rd Party Software that takes readings from SA or even an O-scope and somehow managed to get the machines files encrypted.

Edit: Yeah it was a remote control software.

It's amazing that hospitals fall victim so often. You'd think with the money they have and how tightly they're governed by laws protecting patient info, they'd spare no expense on proper protections and end user training on how to recognize potential infection vectors.

Considering most of our internet traffic is routed through Finland, this is starting to all make sense.

I'm not too worried about any ransomware virus. If I get one I'll just pay it. I'm supposed to be getting a payout from this really nice Nigerian prince who emailed me last week. The money should be here any day now.

A virus isn't going to give you any more problems that you already have using this.

This is getting nastier by the minute.

74 countries now. My firm has already received multiple emails from infected people externally. Thankfully all those emails have been the internal spreading mechanism link to a file share. Already had one user here click on the link...fricking idiots.

Thankfully our patch system is on point and we're fully patched against this shite.

Our entire Irving Campus is pretty much shut down to prevent any other infections. Everyone went home for the most part today.

Know the feeling there. We have a sharedrive with sensitive material that was had to backup on a clean disc and then shut it and the backup down.
