Truer words have never been spoken. I’ll never be able to buy a truck and not use it as, well you know, a goddamn truck.

Where do y'all get these numbers? Do y'all even own a Tundra? I get 15mpg in the city and around 20-21 on the Hwy with 33" all terrain tires.

With what engine? I can guarantee not the 5.7. I have 149,000 miles of proof. My Tundra is great but the mileage sucks

Come on man. You may get 15 city, but no way in hell you get 20-21 with 33” unless you are going 60 mph down the interstate maybe.

Tundra gets 3-4 mpg less than the domestic trucks. Doesn’t matter what you get, that’s pretty much a known fact.

The 2 wheel drive V6 stock Tundra doesn't even get 20 on the interstate.

I have the 5.7L Tundra. I get 14-15mpg, mostly city driving.

That's about right. The article I linked on page 3 from Car and Driver stated the 5.7L 4x4 got around 13 MPG city and 17 hwy.

Not a chance in hell that's accurate.

Why? It's true. My average on my dash is 14.9. I've hand calculated it several times. My truck never goes on Long distances or that would be better (we take our explorer). I also sit ideal during lunch and it makes the number go down. However, when traveling 60mph I get around 20.

Because stock Tundras don't do that. You probably added larger tires and possibly changed the gearing and then didn't adjust you speedo and odometer to match the new stuff.

I will be you literally anything you want you don't get over 20 for any sustained period of time.

I put on 33s and a front level kit and that's it. Speed won't change that much from stock tires so no need to recalibrate.

20-21 mpg highway might be possible in a 4.6L, with no traffic, cruise set at 60mph, going downhill the entire time.

Ugh, I'll try to prove it some how.

Car and Driver

quote:

The EPA rates the rear-wheel-drive 4.6-liter V-8 at 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway—fuel efficiency goes south from there. The Tundra’s 5.7-liter V-8 with four-wheel drive has the lowest EPA estimates at 13 mpg city, 17 mpg highway.

Toyota Website

/Thread. You aren't getting 20 MPG

If you say so. You must have a magical truck. Here is a thread with a bunch of guys with trucks just like yours getting 12-13, with 15.5 being the high reported.

Just did. Your little Tundra isn't going to magically get 3+ MPG better than every other Tundra on the road.

And the manufactures typically overstate mpg. I can get the highway rated mpg in my F150 driving 60-65 on the interstate
