Nicotine is a nasty addiction. Don't let it beat you. The first few weeks are the worst. If I can quit anyone can.

Thanks! Hope you beat yours, too.

You can do it man. Its tough but you can get through. First week I would say I just felt off without it, was craving one bad. Watch the scale too and exercise

Are you just going cold turkey or do you have 5 cases of gum and tic tacs ready to go?
30 years and it's the only thing I've never been able to kick.

Not that I recall. That was over 15 years ago though. Can't think of any friends or family today who dip

CT with the assistance of cinnamon toothpicks. love those things.

damn, been at it for too long myself, probably 20 years.
Planned on quitting for good when I moved out of the country several years ago. I had a fresh can of Cope LC for the flight. It must've fallen out of my pocket when I went to the bathroom. Went back to get it and was gone. I knew I had a problem when I wanted to search every square inch of the plane and throttle the smug stewardess who was looking at me like i was crazy. I know that bitch threw it away! she gave me a smirk after an 8 hour flight of hell with no nicotine

You must not be from the south. Or went to college in the south, was in a fraternity. Or played high school baseball

ironically, when i've gone for days or a week without it i feel great. i find stuff to do instead of dipping and don't think about it. But I'll just randomly get a compulsive desire to have one and give in.

I quit cold turkey many years ago, pretty much on a whim. I was an all day dipper for many years, but the Great American Smokeout rolled around one year, and they had a commercial on saying if you can quit for one day you can quit for good,
I challenged myself to go 10 minutes after dinner. Then 30 minutes, then an hour, etc. Was shocked I made it to bedtime and really thought I would pick it up in the morning. But that was it. Never touched it again.
It's like an ex girlfriend. You think about her all the time at first, then less often. one day she'll come to mind and you'll think, man, I'm glad I got rid of that bitch.

I'm 31. I started dipping in high school. Started smoking in college. I quit smoking after roughly 2 years. I never really thought of myself as a smoker. I remember kissing a girl at a party and her immediately telling me that I taste like smoke. That really embarrassed me and I never forgot it. That made me want to quit for the first time. I threw so many full packs away trying to convince myself that I was done. You have to force yourself to make it for a couple of weeks. Also making it past the first few times of going out and drinking was key for me. It's easy to say to yourself that I'm only going to smoke when I drink. That doesn't work out long term in my experience. After a few weeks I found myself not getting cravings anymore. Now I genuinely get queasy when I'm around cig smoke.
Dipping was easier. I did the same things I did with smoking but the cravings weren't as bad. I chewed a lot of gum. Not nicotine gum, but regular gum. Just basic pink bubble gum. I would chew it for a few seconds then put it in my lip like a dip.
I'm over 10 years since my last cig and 6-7 years since my last dip. Doing either never even crosses my mind anymore.
Good luck man.
