It can be done. I drank 12-15 beers a night for almost four years. Haven't had a beer in almost seven months and have lost 31 pounds. I still smoke a joint every Saturday though. First couple of weeks suck and you will crave sweets like crazy.

drink 3 of the 25 ounce cans of Budweiser & Clamato Picante every weekday after work. Usually 4 of them on Friday night. I probably average 6 a day on Saturday and Sunday

This is so fricking trashy but still awesome at the same time

Self medication is why I drink. Never drink during weekdays but weekends I have alcohol in my system at all times. Allows me to relax and not stress.

If you can't quit drinking beer, you might have an issue. If you can't just have one beer and not have 7-8 more that same day, you have the physical allergy.

that's all fine... obviously you don't HAVE to have it, you just want it.... it could turn for the worse if you aren't careful. Obviously a crutch you need to keep being cognizant that you are using.

@Sun god, it's already happened more than once. But it's been a long arse time

I've ALWAYS enjoyed a drink or three under certain circumstances, but pretty frequently, but I have some kind of built in mechanism against drinking at inappropriate times. Like, it would feel weird.

Usually people that go at it on their own fail. It's progressive. You will come up with excuses or loopholes on why you can drink again and be right back where you started.

First, that's a ton of beer to drink daily. Secondly, a licensed counselor may help you pinpoint the reason you're drinking so excessively. If you're hellbent on not going that route, you're going to have to totally separate yourself from all things alcohol. To the point that you avoid walking past it at the stores and obviously you'll have to stay away from the bar scene. Be honest with yourself, don't manipulate yourself into believing one beer is ok. The mind and body are beautiful things and you can conquer this thing if you really want to stop drinking.

Be careful just quitting cold turkey, if you can even do it (which I doubt)

Alcohol isn't a substance you're body can handle just stopping, especially after years of daily consumption. You can go into seizures and all types of illness without proper medical care. Aside from Xanax, it's one of the worst things you can just stop cold turkey when it comes to your bodies reaction

If you can't quit drinking because you can't handle the anxiety, you need outside help. You're anxiety is caused by the drinking and you are already stuck in the circle.
