Question regarding traffic stop on LA 1 merge to bridge

I’m coming from the Port of BR and often see a cop right there with someone pulled over. Today it was a Marshall. Is this a inspection sicker checkpoint?

They're preventing people from driving in the left lane over the bridge and trying to merge right at the last second. That's why they have the double white lines.

Ahhh okay, that makes sense. Because of frickers like that, I can’t even merge there coming from work at the Port of BR. They block it off at 4 and I have to go to PA and make the u turn back on LA 1. Serious inconvenience

They are looking for the mergers but also giving out seat belt and inspection tickets.

The infrastructure of WBRP south of I-10 is abysmal. When the Intracoastal bridge was closed to truck traffic a few months back, it showed just how vulnerable the area is. If, God forbid, the intracoastal bridge was knocked out, the chaos would be unreal. I'd like to think that incident would be a wakeup call to the central planners, but I seriously doubt it did a damn thing.
