PS. If youve gotten 7 years youve done a good job. Id also advise saturating the top with scotch guard or boat canvas water proofing.
You can get several more years out of it and it will restore it very well. Trick is with making them last is using a soft brush on them to scrub away anything that will contribute to mold. Canvas care products from 3-m or marine suppliers also contain repellants and wax. Ive seen tops last 20 plus years and ive seen them last 3. It just depends on being lazy or taking care of it.

Using a combination of yalls suggestions I was able to use some pliers, soap and opening the side windows to get a little slack- and got the zipper unstuck.

I put a zip tie on the zipper so it made it easier to pull, works for me, mines an 08, about to just get a new top

Good deal man glad you got it working.

You can get a new zipper installed pretty cheaply at an upholstery shop.

Also, the make a specific product for this, Zipper Lube. You can get it any marine supply store.
Boxcar is spot on about the Scotch guard type products for canvas tops. I use it on the top of the Vette and it still looks like new and water still beads.
If only they made a bourbon-guard. :(

You know the Jeep wave bre?
I am new to the jeep club and I noticed the two finger off the steering wheel wave, so I joined in. I like my new cult friends.

mine will do that from time to time. I usually just handle it with pliers.
I might just buy another new top soon, its fairly cheap to get the new tops.

Now go buy some silicone spray. Easy, fast and works awesome. That zipper that is sticking will give you problems again, soon. If you can find a boot repair store or a tops unlimited, get the zipper mechanism replaced.

If you got 7 years out of a soft top
1. Consider yourself lucky
b. Throw old soft top in the garbage
III. buy new soft top
