That way, even if you are in another state/jurisdiction and your DL info is pulled up, it shows any and all interactions you've had with law enforcement on previous stops.

I don't think that's how it works. The Department of Motor Vehicles is ran by the states individually. It isn't federal. The state's DMV don't actively communicate with one another.

I hope that is false.

I mean how lazy can you be?

I'm not even asking you to stop speeding or sobering up before you drive. It's just a seat belt.

Couldn't you avoid a bicycle cop?

That is how it worked before I retired in 08. I stopped a guy in Mobile County and was given info from Ga. It didn't apply to the reason I stopped him, but I found out he had several speeding tickets but nothing outstanding.

seat belt violations don't go on your driving record

That's because it isn't a moving violation.

It is still a non-moving violation though.

How hard is it to fight a seat belt ticket? Isn't it just your word vs their word?

I wear it on the highway. If I'm rolling down the block at 15 MPH, I'll risk the fine.

But why? Besides the fact that you could still get a ticket, though unlikely, 15 mph is still fast enough to get hurt if you slam into something. But most importantly, doesn't that fricking beeping driving you insane like it does me?

First offense is $35, second offense is $50.

Sorry, fine just went up Monday.

Seat belt fines:

Driving unrestrained will carry a more expensive penalty. The fine for a first-offense will increase from $25 to $50. Repeat offenders will pay $75 each additional time they fail to buckle up.

Expunged offenses not only show up for law enforcement, but are produced in background hiring checks for medical providers.

But: seat belt violations don't go on your driving record (I looked it up, I don't have the citation handy, but it's there.) So, how do they know it's a second offense?

Everything goes on your record somewhere. When they say that "it does not go on your driving record" they mean it is not a moving violation and therefore reported to your insurance company. Parking tickets are the same way

What happened to freedom?

Why do you have to wear a seatbelt? 'Land of the free' my arse!

What's next? Uniforms? Standardized shoes? Bright orange colored cars?

All in the name of 'safety'? People still have 'Freedom' to be a dumbass and Darwin can do his thing.

This Pokemon Go pussy generation won't stop it for sure.

it actually doesn't though, not non-moving violations. Which is the point I was trying to make.
