If you live in MS, the opposite is true.

They freaking aren't doing that! A "gun free zone" does not deny one single freaking right by the Constitution. That is amazing that you think that's what it does.

I think the distinction is pretty obvious. They probably won't let you drag a printing press in there, either. Or a camera crew. Or a marching band. Or a church service. Or an organized protest. There are tons of 'rights' a business can tell you to check at the door, which is very different from telling YOU to GTFO.

I mean it really depends on interpretation. The Gun-Free School Zone Act was ruled unconstitutional originally, and the law stands under what many consider to be a loophole to the Commerce Clause.

Basically says that because the guns have moved in or otherwise affects interstate commerce. Pretty broad

Not because it violated an individual right, but because Congress lacked authority.

What would you call imposing restrictions on citizens without authority?

Overreach. Same thing you call Congress doing anything they aren't constitutionally authorized to do.

Lopez didn't even mention the second amendment. Didn't matter if it was guns or cantaloupes. The only question was whether Congress had authority under the commerce clause. That decision adds nothing to the discussion of gun free zones and individual rights.
