Heavy rain is definitely moving in, but radar shows it's a pretty fast moving cell so hopefully the downpour doesn't last too long.

And hopefully the Elmer's glue and duct tape on the turbines can hold them together long enough to power a little pumping today.

Mitch needs to get out and push.

Looking at the weather forecast, it lists rain and scattered thunderstorms for the next week.

Is this normal in South Louisiana during the summertime or are we looking at legitimate city flooding?

I hope all of you New Orleans residents aren't affected.

What this city needs now are the best hydraulic engineers flown in from the Netherlands to fix these pumps.

But what we are getting are press conferences from a toolbox of a mayor wearing a custom tee.

To be fair, she just hasn't had enough time to reach Mitch levels yet. If she gets 7 years to do it like Mitch has had, she'll surpass anything Mitch has ever done. At least he's good at politicking. She's pretty bad at it.

Well, here we go...it's national now. The AP just picked it up.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Latest on flood concerns in New Orleans due to the city’s malfunctioning water-pumping system (all times local):

11:20 a.m.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency for New Orleans with the city’s water-pumping system malfunctioning and needing repairs as more rain is in the forecast.

The governor’s office said Thursday’s declaration is a precautionary measure amid concerns that the malfunctioning pumps leave New Orleans more vulnerable to flooding.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s office said in a news release early Thursday the city has lost service to one of its turbines, which powers most of the pumping stations that service the East Bank of New Orleans. Landrieu said that means the system’s capacity to drain storm water from the streets has been diminished.

Heavy rain on Saturday led to flooding in many parts of New Orleans.

The emergency declaration authorizes the state to assist the city in response work.

Wow even Scoot "Mr. New Orleans is wonderful" is ripping the hell out of the city "Leadership" right now on WWL. Said change is needed and the old "this is NOLA and this is how we do things" mentality has to go starting at the top.
