So my understanding is that the S&WB is technically a separate entity and does not receive funding from the City of NO, but through, grants, millages, water taxes, etc.
Does that count for catch basins as well? Pumps? Infrastructure?
I see a guy arguing on FB that the removal of statues has nothing to do with funding for S&WB. Just curious.

Better question. Why are the SWB employees now coming forward about the terrible situations being given a pass?
If this weekend didn't happen they still would be collecting their check. Instead the employees now speaking out are being applauded for their honesty.

Well, he's wrong, simply based on the fact that it was a huge distraction for the person from the city admin that is supposed to oversee the S&WB.
Leading up to hurricane season, he was posturing and did nothing to prep, test, etc the drainage system which is completely hamstrung, from the info realeased

I suppose technically it is, but the mayor is the president and it's been that way since it was founded. In fact, when it was founded it was the mayor and the city council.

Yes it absolutely does.

The mayor of New Orleans is the president of the sewage and water board he has absolutely no excuse to say he did not know. He needs to resign immediately

Dam right I am. All the people who live in worse shitholes come in here fricking with people who live in the nola area.

It really sucks that he was out of town when this happened. He would've been the one giving out all of that false info

I applaud that they are speaking up and using their inside perspective to give all residents a better idea of the goings on. Can you really blame them for not speaking out against their employer when they depend on the salary to support a family?

Has it been discussed in here that a pump actually ran backwards during the 7/22 event. You can't make this kind of thing up.
I don't even understand why it would have that capability, considering it's use in New Orleans.

I can blame them for not taking responsibility yet now standing on a mount and preaching the bad like they aren't the source.

Because the media are both stupid and complicit.
Not every station has a Nak for breaking stories that make politicians uncomfortable.

I'm not seeing anything in the budget which says specifically where the funds came from, ie "The City of New Orleans".

Well, let me pitch a notion
We, fellow citizens, spent kazillions of dollars rehabbing the nola area, which was fine, yet the city leadership turns around and farts with monuments while likely its most vital structure goes unattended....I'll keep my shithole which implemented a temporary water re-use project during a major drought and which is now on the verge of having a permanent water re-use system and which will likely assist surrounding areas, including the Fort Worth area....
