Here is a short video of how to react if we are attacked.

If you duck and cover, the bomb won't hurt as much. You're welcome.

Good catch. It also helps if you cover with a cloth or even a newspaper.

I remember the drills at school when I was a kid. We had a huge basement where everyone would go until it was safe...of course, in a single line and orderly fashion. I remember the teachers telling us, "at home, you may not have water so make sure you have plenty of food and water in your fallout shelter." "And remember, you should not eat the snow if there's no water. It may be contaminated with fallout." Very strange times.

Did you constantly wear sun screen to prevent atomic flash burn?

I don't remember hearing anything about sun screen back then. It might not have been available...don't remember. But they did tell us about radiation and its effects. They also warned us about the shock wave. I remember some kids saying, "you're supposed to put your head between your legs so you can kiss your butt goodbye".

Yeah, don't worry about the radiation you're breathing in and being absorbed into your skin, it's the snow you need to worry about.

Some good info in there. Some of the protocol is a bit outdated though. Most experts now claim that covering before ducking is more effective
