PSA about recent scam (maybe targeting the elderly?)

I know there's a few Mobile folks on here but maybe this applies to others.
My grandparents moved from Mobile to Mandeville about two years ago but still have Mobile numbers.
My grandmother was out shopping yesterday and got a phone call from a 251 number. The man addressed her by name and asked if she knew my grandfather (also by name). She said yes and then he proceeded to tell her "Right now you need to go get in your car and" - at that point she hung up.
Fortunately she had just left the house 10 minutes earlier and saw my grandfather sitting in the recliner so she knew the guy was full of shite.
She called the Mobile County non-emergency PD number and told them what happened. They said that has been happening quite a bit lately to older folks. Apparently they'll likely tell the person they have their spouse and instruct them to go load a Walmart gift card with money and leave it at a specified location.
Not sure if this is specific to Mobile area but just wanted to share. PD said they are targeting older couples so maybe just give a heads up to your folks that this is happening.
And no pics of grandma for any of you sick fricks.

People that mess with kids & old folks should be slowly tortured.

Similar thing happened to my grandmother, except they told her that some relative was being held captive in a foreign country.
Also she died like 2 weeks later. So maybe consider giving these people what they want.
RIP Nana

I truly feel sorry for the elderly who get suckered into these things.
I have zero sympathy for people under the age of 60 though.

Do you have a sister or maybe a hot mom you could post pics of?
