Ugh...the Supreme Court just upheld k9 indications as PC like 3 years ago.

The field test is based upon a repeatable scientific analysis.
The K9 test is based upon handlers subjective interpretation of the dogs response.....which is in turn a subjective interpretation of what the dog 'senses'.
I am not familiar with the particulars of this field test but I am familiar with many analytical quick-test kits that test for a variety of substances. Most of these kits will give false positives because many common everyday substances have chemical substituents that are similar to the what the kit is testing for.
Never plead guilty if you didn't do the crime.
