Protect Those Pipes!

Last night I completely forgot to do anything with the pipes outside. This morning I went to check on the chickens and feed them and their waterer and the hose was frozen solid! I was like "oh crap!". It's supposed to be below freezing for at least eight hours tonight so I went and dug out the faucet protectors and did a McGyver to protect where the main comes into the house.
It may not be really necessary(and I saw no neighbors doing anything)but if it freezes tonight I won't have broken pipes tomorrow!

Just dripping them will do right? I'm
Not home and I told the wife to do that so hopefully that will do the trick.

Hopefully. I'm just dripping mine. My sugar kettle fountain froze a good 4 inches from the top last night.

It also helps to open the cabinet doors underneath a sink/faucet that is on an outside wall to help the warm air inside to circulate around those pipes.

It's always a good idea to check them during the night. At 10 it might look fine, at 3 when everyone else has dome it the water pressure will drop and it might not be open enough.
I like to do a load of laundry or a load of dishes around 4 when the temps drop this low.Runs for a while and then turns itself off, win/win.

Would have been a better story if it froze from the bottom

Whole lot of hours below freezing between yesterday and today...of anyone ignores it, they deserve having frozen pipes.
