But in all seriousness, take him to court. I saw a case on the very subject on Judge Waptner. The judge sided with the Plaintiff and the defendant had to pay him it in a civil suit.

Yeah what if OP buys him a nice set of noise canceling headphones that he can crank up as loud as he wants into his ears? Like Bose or something like that. Could be a win-win sort of peace offering.
