Can you tell me more about how this creates a problem with the classroom experience?
I graduated from DSHS in 2015.
You have half the population at the school (school population is at 2000 at the moment) who is not going to college. They frick around and start shite with teachers/disrupt class on a daily basis. These kids do not want to learn. They don’t give a frick.
I WISH my parents would’ve sent me to private school. I was not prepared for the ACT or college.
My siblings who are in private school now are coming out more prepared for college and standardized testing. They will have so many more options when it comes to picking schools they want to attend. It will pay off later in life.

Seriously, what possible draw is there to living on Denham other than public schools?

Why did your parents not like you?

All BS aside.... does she have pretty decent academic potential? My daughter is a senior at CP and I haven't been very impressed, tbh. Nice, small school environment but not the best for college prep.

When I started middle school, they did not have the money to send me, and when I was in high school, they thought it was a waste of money.
When they moved to New Orleans, they had no choice but to send the kids to a private school. It has paid off like crazy.

You should keep your kids in the same school system and do your best to improve the community. Get others involved and help the kids that need help.

A lot of it depends on the kid too. Me, both of my siblings and all of my cousins on my dad's side graduated from Central Private or Central High (before they pulled out of EBRPSS).
We all have college degrees with 4 of the 5 having advanced degrees (surgeon, MBAs etc).
I'm the one off in case anyone was wondering

Episcopal models their school after Isidore Newman school and is very expensive.
Unless you make a nice donation or a legacy it’s extremely difficult to get into Newman. Do the same rules apply for Episcopal admission?

As much as I would like to agree with this, I am going to do what is best for my kids when it comes down to it.

CP is a shell of itself.

No

I do not know. The only reason I know that they base their school off of Newman is that my siblings go to Newman, so I have no idea what the admission process is like at Episcopal.

Jesus wouldn't approve of this response.
sheep.
i kid i'm being a total jackass but this is essentially the underlying problem and the cause of blight. boomers want to complain about community etc etc. They started the white flight that then just became urban flight when money crossed the racial boundaries. Best of luck but inspiring them to learn is just as important as the school.

Amite Christian Academy is opening a 6th grade next year. Only downside to that is will there be a 7th or 8th grade the next years?

We are zoned for Tara High which is F rated and has about a 45% graduation rate. We didn't move. I'm just not sending my daughter there.

Guessing you've never tried to push back against a shitty school board, fight bad teachers, and deal with parents who don't give a damn. That is why people flee bad situations. It's almost a lost cause. You can't win.
Denham and LP in general are good schools.
