I have not seen a thread about this in a while. Has the commute times gotten any better or worse in the past couple years. My wife is adamant about moving out of BR. I work around Perkins and Essen so if I can tweak my schedule to leave home at 7:00a and leave work around 4:00p about how long can I expect to be in traffic?

DOTD is supposed to be starting a project to expand 10 from 4 to 6 lanes down to Prairieville sometime soon(ish). Might want to wait until that's done (because if it's anything like the 12 expansion was it's going to be a clusterfrick for traffic until it's completed).

you might as well go buy a home with some nice property in St. Francisville. Same time commute maybe even shorter. Or heck go to Zachary. Commute is much shorter.

I leave about 6:45am and traffic is light and moves well. I have left at 7am and it was horrendous.

This is the key

Can you move the 7 up a bit? Seriously. The difference between 645 and 7 is huge. After work, without wrecks, you should be ok anytime before 4:30. Or really 5. I leave at 430 sometimes from Acadian and its not bad getting back to Dutchtown.

Thanks for the advice. I hear Dutchtown has some of the better schools in the area. Any chance of us finding a house in the 180,000-200,000 range

Dutchtown to Essen is basically my route. Leave home at 7:20 get to work by 7:55 if there are no wrecks or anything. Leave work at 4:30 and get home by 5:05- so about 35 mins each way. Some days it will be more, some days it will be less. Yes you can find something in that range but since the area is so popular you may have to be patient for something to come on the market. It's convenient though for interstate access and not having to take Airline every day.
