Who else has their generator going at 5 am in the morning praying to god your pipes don’t bust Bc the energy company’s ineptness and insufficient, out of date, infrastructure doesn’t have enough juice to power all the homes in your area?

Man that’s a long question....

Uh, it might be ice on lines, not lack of juice

Could be. But a friend of mine that works for the company told me when it gets cold like this that everyone runs their central heat which draws a lot of power and overloads the whole system. And sure enough every time it’s cold this happens.

Why not go turn your water main off and drain the lines?

That sucks. Ours blinks here and there but has not stayed off, thankfully. How are you supposed to conserve energy when It's 18 degrees outside? Just supposed to turn the heat off for a while? Seems absurd.

I did. Always that worry that it didn’t completely come out.

That’s what she said...

Entergy: Power outages possible unless customers can conserve energy

quote:

A combination of higher-than-expected demand for power and unexpected power generator outages has Entergy Louisiana asking customers to conserve power Thursday between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m.

According to a news release sent out Wednesday night, Entergy's power reliability coordinator, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, "is making this unusual request because use of electricity could exceed available generation."

If the power supply cannot meet the demand, periodic power outages would be needed, Entergy said. MISO is working to bring on additional generation in the area.

I bet a lot of folks don’t turn off their water heater while running the water all night. High and useless drain of electricity.

Space heaters would use less energy than a central system
