No, but it will stop a driver from successfully claiming you rear-ended her after she sideswipe hid-and-ran on you like so:
Right there on "the tradin' corner of Sterx and MacArthur!" ??

Guy tried to turn right from the left lane on Canal St right at N. Peters. I was in the right lane and he turned right into me and tore my car all to hell. He gets out and is about 85 years old and rambling on about this and that. NOPD shows up and he states I was driving on the sidewalk and he was in the right lane so I must have been at fault. Fast forward three weeks and NOPD never bothers to file their accident report (shocked I know) and the guy repeats his claim to his insurance company. They promptly inform me that they have no choice but to back their policy holder and they want to make the accident my fault. I had to go back down there and take photos of the sidewalk with the signs, lampposts, a mailbox, a newspaper machine and the high curb and send it to the adjustor who finally admitted it would have been impossible for me to drive on the sidewalk.
Long story short, they will back their policy holder unless you can prove otherwise.

I've noticed that 99 out of 100 people never signal anymore. WTF is with that?

It's a Louisiana thing I think. It is constant down here but rare when I was in other places.
