The HP computer campus is right there around 249 and Louetta. Some nice neighborhoods around there.

lived in the area for years. 249 headed north of the beltway was at a standstill north of FM1960 yesterday.

the Willowbrook mall is becoming more urban and has gone downhill in recent years.

I'd get north of FM2920 if i was you. I am and am builind off of FM2978.

Another thread from a few weeks back with some information.

LINK

For single that doesn't live in the burbs, Heights, Midtown, or upper Kirby. You would mostly be driving against the flow of traffic.

I would recommend maybe spending a night in a hotel near one of those ares to check the commute, which can be brutal if you choose the wrong area for where you work. School starts in about a month so traffic will change drastically.

I would recommend a realtor for helping with finding an apartment. It wont cost you anything. A short term 6 month with a month to month option may be a good idea until you figure out what you like here.

Har.com is very helpful for real estate as well.

You have the “blacks stole the wheels off my car” tax and it’s MUCH larger in Louisiana.

Granted I'm passing through before 7 and on my way back thru at 4, but the days I pass thru, it's never that bad. Might be a little traffic getting into the beltway, but that's it. Do it probably 3 days a week.

actually did something similar in pittsburgh and its great advice. i just got up early and drove to possibly place then left for work. and i guess i didnt think about the flow of people heading downtown and going against that each day.

I lived just north on 249/8 along Cypresswood Dr right out of college. I liked it then and it was affordable and nice, while at the same time some high end places to rent as well.
