It's amazing that St Louis went from one of the great American cities in 1900 to the butt of jokes now.

It really could be one of the best cities in America again. It has unique architecture, superb infrastructure, great public spaces and lots of things going for it. The city/county divide makes things unnecessarily antagonistic, especially given that the demarcation between the city and county isn't governed by a physical landmark. I don't know how to fix it, or to approach, but there wasn't enough incentive for me to stay there long term even though I could have bought a house and settled down.

These aholes are walking around the CWE. I wanted to go to the balloon glow with my girlfriend but don't want to be around the protests.

The answer to fixing St Louis city proper has to come from within at this point. I don't think folks in the county are going to welcome them until there is real change in direction in the city. Both in policy from leadership and attitude.

I would agree with that. But I'm saying let what we know as St. Louis City proper just rot. St. Louis County and St. Charles County should just simply focus on making that area around the Missouri river the hub of business and entertainment and let's forget about St. Louis City proper. Effectively re-defining what is "St. Louis" to St. Louis County/St. Charles County.

I'm glad it wasn't just me. For a while I felt like I had the worst run of luck.

Nope. It's a money making machine for two groups. The municipalities and the lawyers. And every little town wants it's own PD because that's the easiest way to make money.

I've been dating a girl from STL for about a year now. I never would have considered living here (I live on the east coast, from LA), but it's a really underrated place.

And you get a lot for ur $$, especially in housing and great schools. In SoCo/WestCo you can't go wrong with any HS.

You live in County or City?

the worst thing, is that some of these Munis, the Judge is the lead prosecutor, Defense attorney in another Muni. And the same in Another.

It's 100000000% conflict of interest.

I don't live here, but spend about a weekend here a month. GF lives in the CWE but grew up in Clayton.

Yeah that is corruption waiting to happen. If protesters in the city framed things as a class issue instead of a race issue, they could get a lot more people on board. At least that was the feeling I got when I lived there.

What ur saying is exactly why Sports athletes end up staying and living here, regardless of where they finish their careers. A shite load of former baseball, hockey, and old cardinal/rams football players living here.

shite, you go out to Ofallon, Mo, and you can see Darryl Strawberry at a grocery store.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood your post.

I think that is already happening. The St Charles riverfront is what a space like the Mississippi riverfront should look like in ST Louis.

The suburbs in St Louis are great but I'm not a suburb person and have been trying to get my gf to move. If we don't get to see U2 tomorrow, I'm going to have some good ammo for that move.

Uh... that would be a precedent...? God damn, can someone explain to me why we don't just kill all these frickers off? What is the benefit of having any of these dumb fricks around?
