Because they don't want to feel left out. They want to feel important. They think protesting this will make them on the same level as those that protested for legit civil rights issues in the 60s.

I dont know man. I live out in St Charles now. Love the riveefront there.

The answer to fixing St Louis city proper has to come from within at this point. I don't think folks in the county are going to welcome them until there is real change in direction in the city. Both in policy from leadership and attitude.

I'm open to a merge but many things need to change first.

Also, stop "fixing" tickets. If you get a speeding ticket, you get the points and your insurance goes up. Enough points, you lose your license. Pulled over on suspended license, you're spending the weekend in jail. Second offense a week. Then a month and so on. Apply it across the board. No one gets tickets "fixed" any more.

I feel like the excessive policing compounds inequality problems that St. Louis has. I got three tickets in the county in one year, and I've never gotten a ticket any where else. The tickets were in three different municipalities, and the infractions were utterly minor in my view (as in less than 5 over) and I still had to fork out a ton of money to pay for them.

My gf at the time, who was from St. Louis, told me that writing those tickets was how any municipalities funded themselves. I feel like streamlining the municipalities in some way would stop what, in my view, was excessive ticketing. I don't know if the excessive ticketing is something other people have experienced.

yep, tickets fund the police force

it's a majority of their bankroll. It's why they go hard for everyone in the areas.

And nothing gets them paid, than getting lower middle and poor on their books. They dont target a race, they target a class of people.

That is exactly how they fund themselves. The HGWY 70 run to our airport from the west burbs has three municipalities that fund themselves from tickets. St Ann, St John and bridgeton. It's pathetic.

I'm glad it wasn't just me. For a while I felt like I had the worst run of luck.

They know the poors will get on their books, and a simple ticket can end up being courts costs, bond, fines, etc.

That $30 ticket becomes $3K in fees and they have you on a pay plan.

These munis are a joke. Beverly Hills is my favorite muni. takes 10 seconds to be in and out of BH Missouri. And yes, they have a police force.

It's amazing that St Louis went from one of the great American cities in 1900 to the butt of jokes now.
