There is video of the whole shooting incident including two camera in the patrol car. (DASH and back seat) They could find no evidence that a gun was planted.
The problem here is the FBI and Obama justice department turned over every rock and decided not to peruse civil rights charges because the evidence just isn't there.
I Don't know what to think. He was a convicted drug dealer that was caught in the middle of a drug deal. When police tried to apprehend he rammed patrol cars to get away and was perused.
This isn't an officer out yo assinate good black folk no matter how hard the narrative is being spun.

In fairness, proving a gun was planted is pretty hard short of him being taped without knowing it. There was certainly some evidence that could infer that it was planted but certainly not strong enough to say it was beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yeah, no doubt the guy was a criminal.

The reason the guy went with a Bench trial, was his lawyer knew the Judge would go by letter of the law, where as the jury would of used thier opinion for verdict
They were never going to get him for Murder 1.

That's kind if where I am at with this whole thing. I don't think he was a good cop. I think he was one of those suburb types that wanted to be a hardass being a city cop.
They state didnt/couldn't prove its case. That's really the bottom line.
I think the guy he shot was a dreg on society and I think St Louis is a better place without an officer like that in its police force.
Just my $.02.

yeah... I'd think an officer in any similar situation would go with a bench trial... esp. if the demographics of the area would seem to signify a likely jury that would probably be against the officer straight away

Yep. A much more likely chance he gets convicted if he had a jury in St. Louis City.

I talked to my pops, and a lot of the police officers and retired officers thought he was shady and guilty of something.
All shocked by verdict, but then weren't once they were reminded that idiot CA went for murder 1.
