i've never been stopped and asked to return to my vehicle. Always stand in the front of the police unit or at the rear of my vehicle with hands where they could see them.
yep. Also do not try to exit vehicle before being told to do so. I have learned that a few times.

Yes. The attitude that we should live in fear of the police and just comply when they wrongfully detain you is asinine.
Do you think you will change that when encountered by a cop on the street?
I hope I never get pulled over.

My dad was pulled over and was getting out of the vehicle as a courtesy to the cop that pulled him over so he could see him at night and the cop pointed a gun at him and told him to get back in the vehicle.

I'll ask this question again. Why would he obey the cops by putting his hands on his head and then not obey them by walking to his truck?
quote:and now the speculation. Nobody really has anything constructive to say about this incident without audio. Unless the entire thread is just to speculate then it could be fun.
The police probably asked him for his ID which was in the truck

and you're defending him. So. What's this thread about exactly?
I going merely off the facts. You are going off of fear.

Maybe if some of these cops started getting convicted then it'll change the way they handle certain situations.
True but as long as humans are involved they will have bad apples and people making bad decisions. Unfortunately everyone can't react or even be trained to react the same way in every situation. How a cop may react today may be different tomorrow based on what is happening in their personal life or what has happened that day at work. humans will never be perfect.

I've been asked to go to my vehicle to retrieve documents after refusing their right to search.
Troopers will make you step out sometimes and ask you to get the paperwork and even turn their back on you (in my experience)
I haven't really had a bad experience since I was a teen, when I had police point guns at me for no real reason and that is some scary shite.
You have the scarlet F which requires them to pay you more mind than they pay the average person and you know that is true.

I just think it's funny how some on here think they have "rights" when pulled over.
Generally you have two outcomes when pulled over:
1)Do what you think is right and not comply with what you think is illegal directives. Typically these people die. This is a bad idea.
2)Do everything the cop says without hesitation. This can include a long list of things that may end up with you getting convicted of a lot of stuff in court, but the plus side is that you live. This is a better option.
Living or dying is entirely up to the driver, but Darwin catches up to everyone eventually.

I can understand both points of view.

I don't live in fear bc I'm 100% certain that I will never ever be in a situation where the cops will shoot me

Shut the frick up. You have no facts. Logic also would tell me four cops don't need their guns drawn on a motorist with a disabled vehicle.

You could have a major dealer next door and the police serve a no-knock on you at 4am. You get your gun thinking you are being broken into, and before you know it, a hail of gunfire is coming at you.
Unlikely? It happens maybe 2-3 times a year.
So never be 100%
