And your odds are dramatically reduced in catching your guy for whatever he has done/warrants or will potentially do since you basically let him go. More criminals will just drive more aggressively in the future so cops back off and they don't get caught. Unless they are fat fricks, most already run or fight when they are on foot.
ETA: The fear of getting caught is the only thing keeping these animals from doing whatever they want when ever they want however they want. We have made big strides in 2020 in reference to letting them off the hook and reducing any fear they may have had.
