re: Playville in Covington is closing

The owner of the building is a shrewd businessman and he bought the land, built the building and paid it off back when the business was really good. When his parents died he went to help with the family business which is Lumber Products on Airline in Metairie. He turned the toy business or sold it to a former employee. He sold the bike business back in the 90s and moved it next door into the building that he also owns (now a ReStore). The only reason it stayed open this long is the school supply business that replaced the bikes and the fact there was little or no debt to the whole operation. I worked there as a teen and he ran a tight ship. He took the business very seriously and we worked our asses off during the holidays back then. His brother owns LeJouet on Airline.

I pass by that place often and wondered how they've managed to stay in business for as long as they have. I'd been in there a couple of times and found them to be expensive, but then again like it was said their stuff was more high-end. I also wonder how the art galleries and boutiques in old Covington stay open. Do they really do that much business?
