Did they make school cafeteria pizza rectangular to fit the rectangle spot on the lunch tray?

No. I'm guessing the trays were cheapest with simple shapes and the rectangular pizzas tended to be the easiest to mass cook/reheat (depending on the schools equipment).

The only type of school pizza we had were rectangular or octagon.

And I think they might have been bought from here

They certainly looked like these:
- TONY'S® 4"X6" THICK CRUST PIZZA/TONY'S® 4"X6" THIN CRUST PIZZA

- TONY'S® FIESTADA® PIZZA

Sheets are pre-scored in eight blocks for pan utilization.

I remember being amazed at how they managed to cut it so perfectly every week when I was in elementary school.

I'd load up the small square with ranch dressing and dip that pizza in ranch all day everyday

IMO
To fit the sheet pan.
I remember the elementary lunch room ladies walking around wiping the kid’s mouths with the same damp dish towel when we were finished eating.
Germs? They didn’t worry about germs. Early ‘60s.

So that's why that generation flocked to Frisco to "live free" while eating out of dumpsters and sleeping wherever they could find in Haight Ashbury. Friggin' hippies.

I graduated from LSU and immediately went into medical sales. During college I earned a “top 10 internship in America” (it was at the time)with Northwestern Mutual. I will say that I benefitted from connections that my mother made from working in the music business for a major label.

I do have a cousin that is autistic so I don’t think my IQ or cognitive ability is something she can understand. Even at 18. I left college do to something out of my control and came back and finished.

Shut your bitch arse up.

Same, otherwise I'd get a RC Cola for 39 cents and a boat of potato wedges for 25 cents.

Id walk down the street to the gas station and get a snack pack consisting of 3 chicken strips with a roll and 2 wedges.

I didn't have the pleasure of the rectangle pizza until I was recruited to a Catholic HS my junior year. It was a closed campus and I haven't liked fish since I was 10. So on Fridays during lent my mom always would swing by with my lunch. (I'm Lutheran and we don't have the restrictions.) Every week I was told I was going to hell by a few kids while others didn't GAF. Technically it was against the rules but they knew I could tell them to piss off and go play for the Lutheran HS.

Hexagon not octagon.

Triangles, squares, and hexagons are the only three possible regular tessellations. All other shapes need different shapes to fill the gaps in tessellation (octagons need small squares, for example).

Edit: Hm actually there are more, for example + shapes interlock, but you end up cutting a bunch of swastikas into the pizza.

So I mistook "regular" to mean only a single repeating shape in the tessellation rather than as in "regular polygon". Obviously many variations of 3- and 4-sided shapes can work, and maybe others.
