That usually happens when they perform a short field takeoff. They are trying to get max power stabilzed before rolling out.

Laguardia and Reagan National have short field landings which can really put some G's on you while slowing down

Along with noise abatement (before the acronym NADP was invented) they were also used for performance. Still may be on certain fleets. It’s not allowed on my fleet.

In SE Asia making it to the gate without madness is a great feeling. Asia is amazing, but they are the rudest travelers. With the situational awareness you have to have walking across the street and the traffic, they have none in the airport, stopping in the middle of the isle to look around with no warning or care.
