Was about to board a 2:30 pm flight at IAH to MSY when the lead at the gate said that the pilot rejected the plane as he deemed it unsafe.

Waited for a second plane from Cabo. Then customs to clear it. We finally board the second flight.

Pilot comes and an tells us there is now a maintenance issue. An hour later maintenance fixed the issue and we are now waiting on the maintenance paperwork before backing out.

Right when we receive the maintenance paperwork; the pilot and 2 officer have run out of their flying time.

Flight now cancelled.

Let me know if this was bogus or possibly bogus. Thanks.

Pilot was either trying to sober up or has a slam piece in Houston he's trying to link up with

Probably a pilot union issue.

This is his way of striking without actually striking

Well, I did hear the flight attendants whisper something about dinking (not dRinking) around. So, that’s what had my mind in the conspiracy theory mode that that dude just wanted to be done for the day.

If the discrepancy could not be repaired or released with a MEL signoff, the captain did the right thing. Unairworthy is the term used when there is a unresolved grounding discrepancy. Unsafe makes people nervous ;)

If the maintenance crew signed it off, there was a recorded issue and it had to be resolved.

now waiting on the maintenance paperwork

Sometimes the paperwork can take longer than the actual repair.

Without knowing when their duty day started and where you were flying to makes it hard for any of us to say if your claim is legit. If a crew cancels a flight, somebody will be looking as to why.

Sometimes these things happen and it's just bad luck.

Or more likely they had two or more underbooked flights and were combining them and had no issues fricking everyone else around to do so as normal.

Sorry. Should have mentioned in OP.

IAH—> MSY will edit OP

This is possible. But United has many Baylor fans that they lost today.

Tbh I don't think a pilot really wants to sit around for hours either.
