I was going through some old slides that Dad had made many, many years ago. When this one popped up, I knew the date it was taken. May 31, 1957. This is the day he bought his Dusk Rose Thunderbird from a dealership in Charleston, WV. A couple years later he added the LSU tag to the front after the Tigers' first national championship.
The T-bird sits in my garage these days in need of a little bit of a restoration. The original bill of sale is still in the glove box, and the LSU tag is still on the front bumper. Per Dad's will, the LSU tag is to never be removed. It'll next belong to my nephew who is studying architecture at Mississippi State I hope he's good with the LSU tag on the front, cause it ain't comin' off!
