There's a 100% chance he did both of them...at the same time.

I see an issue of "Ballyhoo" in the upper right. That was a sort of humor mag from the early-to-mid-1930s. There was another similar one called "Hooey," but I don't see one of those in the photo. I have a few issues of both. I do see "Film Fun," which always had great pin-up cover art. That was a long-running title, which lasted up until the early-40s or so.
The stack in the lower-left might be pulp mags. Would be neat to see the covers, if so. I don't know the date of the photo, but my guess would be late-1933 or 1934. The "Modern Screen" issue looks like Claudette Colbert on the cover. Anotherr cover looks like Irene Dunne.

You'll have that with inbreeding.

Anything with Beverly Garland is usually worth watching. She had that hotel she ran in North Hollywood, which used to host the Ray Courts memorabilia shows. Could pick up all sorts of movie stills and vintage magazines there. Lots of guest celebrities, usually singing autographs, too, although I rarely bothered. I had lunch at the restaurant there several times. Garland would always be around, checking on her guests and whatnot.

And NOU was directed by the inimitable William Castle, who we remember with affection on this Halloween night

Halloween in the 80's was so much better than it is now
