"The Class the Stars Fell On,” West Point’s Class of 1915.
Out of 164 graduates, 59 earned at least one star, the most of any class in the history of the US Military Academy.
Circled are the two 5 star generals, Dwight Eisenhower (left) and Omar Bradley (right).

Nine European Sovereigns at Windsor for the funeral of King Edward VII in May of 1910, four years before World War I began. Standing, from left to right: King Haakon VII of Norway, Tsar Ferdinand of Bulgaria, King Manuel II of Portugal, Kaiser Wilhelm II of the German Empire, King George I of Greece and King Albert I of Belgium. Seated, from left to right: King Alfonso XIII of Spain, King-Emperor George V of the United Kingdom and King Frederick VIII of Denmark.
Within the next decade, Kaiser Wilhelm II and Tsar Ferdinand’s empires would engage in bloody warfare with the nations led by King Albert I and King George V. The war was also a family affair, as Kaiser Wilhelm II was a first cousin to King George V, and an uncle to King Albert I. Of the remaining monarchs pictured, over the next decade one would be assassinated (Greece), three would keep their nations neutral (Norway, Spain, and Denmark), and two would be forced out of power by revolutions.

So, 40 years ago, I was part of an educational trip to Europe that covered 10 cities in 14 days. There were about 20 students with 100 “chaperones”. My dad borrowed the $1200 for me to go.
One of the chaperones was a gentleman who was a bombardier in WWII. While visiting the cathedral in Cologne, he explained that the cathedral was off limits on all missions, even though we knew the German officers would use it as a safe place.
Thank all of you for your efforts in this thread

I’m old enough to remember when it was more common to go to the video rental store to rent both movies and a VCR. Think we finally bought one around 82-83. This was years before Blockbuster was even thought of.

Forgive me if I mentioned this before, but while on a trip to cruise the Danube Oct of last year, we spent a couple days in Prague.
While walking Old Towne Square, it was pointed out that Kafka lived there twice in his life in a couple of the numbered apartments/homes/dwellings.
I thought about your internet persona and decided to educate myself on him, mostly due to our shared interest in film and history.
Why Kafka? Is that possible to explain in short? Certainly not random. LOL
