The radio program "Tom Mix and His Ralston Straight Shooters" is mentioned in the classic crap-game-in-the-barracks scene of James Jones's novel From Here To Eternity, when the soldiers discuss the cowboy heroes of their youth.

When Hollywood had huge studios loaded with tons of hot young female dancers wanting to be in the movies! A young actor could plow his way through that dance group.

Some old photos of my Dad I scanned a while ago.
1951 Jesuit HS Track
Freshman year at LSU when they used to shave their heads and wear beanies.

Those pictures are why we won two World Wars. Who wouldn't want to come home to a heroes welcome from them.
No one wants to potentially die for some blue haired sky screamer. We are so fricked up.

Newsboy Edward ‘Ned’ Parfett outside the White Star Line offices, April 1912.
After the outbreak of war in 1914, Parfett enlisted and was sent to France. On October 29th 1918, just days before the end of the war, he was collecting a clean uniform for the journey back to England when the building was hit by German shells and he was killed. He was twenty two.
