We have a very nice family SUV. I don't have high expectations for my personal vehicle other than the normal stuff - I'd like power windows/locks, a decent stereo with aux cable hookup, and reliability.
Reliability and gas mileage means a lot to me. Sure, I want it to look nice too, and the Frontier looks sharp. So does the Tacoma.
If the Frontier can claim Toyota-type reliability...then I'd certainly consider a Frontier.
I race canoes across the Midwest in the spring, summer, and early fall. The roof rack would be a bonus that I would certainly appreciate.

Big bonus for me on the Frontier is the roof rack, running boards, spray in bedliner, and utilitrack system are standard. I use the shite out of all of them.

You are very correct about this.

I got my 12 Frontier new with aux, Sirius XM, heated seats, Rockford Fosgate(sp) stereo, bluetooth connectivity, etc. for under 30k.
It tows my dads bass boat like a champ and I never feel like I need more power out of it.
I average 19-20 daily commuting and I've gotten 22-23 on road trips.
I personally think it drives the best of the bunch.

It can't....also there's a reason Toyota ran GM & Chevy out of the mid-size truck market for years.....they can't match the Tacoma.

What do the interiors on the higher trim levels look like in the Colorado/Canyon? I've had them as rentals before and they left a lot to be desired. The diesel has me interested if I can get a nice comfortable ride. We have a big SUV for moving the family around. I just need a fuel efficient vehicle for work. Currently in a VW TDI. Thinking of my next vehicle and there is really no car that I want. Full sized truck is out of the question due to mileage and in reality I don't need it. But if the Canyon/Colorado can come near 30 MPG and have the truck bed as a bonus, it would be worth considering. But the interior would have to be nice enough to take customers around in. 4 grown me with enough room, plus leather etc. One thing I've learned in the current car, I need room along with fuel efficiency.

Tacoma. They're invincible, require no maintenance, and are the gold standard of this class.
The other brands have popped in and out of this class, Toyota has always been there.
Toyota in general is higher quality than the other two.
C'mon, one brand went bankrupt and the other is Datsun.

Get the Tacoma. I have a 2008 pre-runner and have had zero issues with it over the 5 years I've owned it.
Tacomas also have phenomenal resale value.

Had a 2001 Tacoma Prerunner traded it in with 239K miles for a 2012 Prerunner. No major issues with the 2001 which led me to buy the 2012. 19-20 MPG on the daily drive, 23-24 Hwy MPG, if your pulling a boat or trailer 15-17 MPG.

Do some real world research, you can about get a full size for the same price and just as good of mileage. Friends 15 Sierra z71 is getting 16.9 in town and 22 on the road.
