While temps of 100°+ in the Phoenix area is completely normal, beating a previous streak of 100°+ days by 24 days and counting isn't normal, and it is notable. It is possible for a weather event to not to be "normal" whilst also not being a harbinger of doom.

The rules are clearly established. If you admit that some years are hotter than normal you must believe we are all going to melt in 5 years.
