The dog’s owner says that her dog was provoked.

“Colin was unsupervised petting a big dog. My dog was fine wagging tail, but as soon as eye contact happened, and he leaned further down that’s testing dominance aggressive or not that’s taken as a threat to any animal,” owner AnneMarie Archambeault said.

Kenosha County health officials said the dog owner has not been cooperative. They said the dog was not licensed with the city, and they have no evidence it was up to date on its rabies vaccine. Health officials said they made contact with the owner yesterday and that she took the dog to an unknown location.

Officials confirm that three dogs attacked a woman, who was found dead in a Costco parking lot Sunday morning, in Northwest Bakersfield. Bakersfield Police Department spokesman Nathan McCauley said one Pit bull and one mixed breed escaped from a nearby business before the attack. The third dog was a stray Pit bull.

Chris and Erica Chodkowski were on their daily walk through the park. With their 9-month-old daughter Lexie and 2-year-old labradoodle in tow, they had just gotten breakfast at the nearby Boathouse and sat down on a bench. It was 8:30 Wednesday morning.

“We didn’t hear him barking we didn’t know another dog was near us,” Erica tells PIX11.

The pitbull seemed to appear out of no where and jumped over Erica and Lexie, who was in her stroller. Chris went to protect his family. The dog landed on the bench and on him.

“The dog really latched onto his arm,” said Erica.

Erica showed PIX11 the photos of the injuries her husband Chris sustained. He needed 30 stitches to his right arm after the attack.

The dog’s owner did catch up.

“All he kept saying was I don’t know why he did that, I don’t know why did that,” recounted Erica. “I kept saying to him please don’t leave I need to speak with you.”

Erica said she wanted to get information on whether the pitbull was vaccinated. But the owner left, as Erica frantically called 911. Bystanders tried to stop the dog and its owner, but to no avail.
