The bills moved Thursday as rumors swirled throughout the state Capitol and elsewhere in Baton Rouge that a long-awaited decision from the U.S. Department of Justice on whether there was police wrongdoing in the shooting of Alton Sterling would be released next week.

"I'm hearing the same things everyone is hearing about the DOJ response, that it's imminent," said Baton Rouge State Rep. Ted James, a Democrat who was heavily involved in the protests that followed the shooting. "But I can't confirm or deny anything."

Former Baton Rouge Metro Councilman John Delgado, who is now working as a lobbyist for the Baton Rouge Police Department union, said Thursday that decision would likely be announced Monday or Tuesday of next week.

quote:

Delgado said he hopes protesters exercise their opinions "peacefully and lawfully," but he said he has no patience for out-of-towners.

"All these people from Houston and Baltimore and Chicago who want to come down here and who are organizing on Twitter -- stay the hell away," he said. "We can solve our own problems. We can have our own dialogues."

Like a legit news outlet.

Should get a reporter microphone with a TD logo on it and send goldennugget as the official OT correspondent to the Sterling decision press conference.

I just hope her call into work about being sick today went well.

"Yes, this is XXXXXX. I'm feeling really terrible and it won't go away."

"No, its not the flu. No, not the stomach virus."

"Somebody posted something on Facebook and it literally made me ill. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow, but just in case, you'd better plan on me being out until Monday."

More like:

"I was sexually assaulted last night so I can't come in today."

"Oh my goodness! That's terrible. Where were you?!"

"On Facebook."

"Ummmm...."
