Unless we tortured you, which is kind of the point.

I feel no sympathy for terrorist or any of their kind. Torture them for the info and then put a 21 cent piece of lead in their skull.

This Spymasters documentary came on showtime tonight? I'm looking for it but I can't find it.

So basically you're saying it's ok to lower yourself to the level of an anti-Christ, give up your faith, and take matters into your own hands while conducting yourself with lack of self control, hate, and destruction?

Look at history. You know who wins? Men who aren't afraid to be brutal and ruthless.

Men that swept across continents and built empires on the backs of millions of dead. Men that would raze cities to the ground and slaughter any that resisted to a man.

Show me an empire of sissies who played by the rules and didn't get their hands dirty.

There aren't any.

And those who became soft were wiped out by men who were hard.

May want to get a history book out. British prison ships, Andersonville, the Japanese in WWII, the Vietnamese

That is actually a really good documentary with very good interviews.

That being said, I'd torture a terrorist if I got a pass. I wouldn't even care if he had valuable info. I could check that off of my bucket list, so that's a net positive

Well, until you go too far and the whole world views you as evil... like hitler and stalin for example.

Meh. I have some small area of professional experience in this arena and traditional "torture" methods do not work, largely. The techniques may be useful in some limited circumstances to reduce resistance in a subject or even to accomplish the initial break.

But, the "rough" measures approved and publicized, up to and including waterboarding do not constitute torture, IMHO.

And who stopped Stalin, exactly?

Hitler gets WAY too much credit. He was a mid major compared to some others in history. The only reason the death tolls were so high was modern tech making killing more efficient.

Look at the damn Mongols. They were slaughtering millions with Iron Age tech.

Killing cities with swords. By hand.

History views hitler as God tier maniac because he's relatively fresh. You give the Mongols or the Huns modern tech and they make him look like a mean little kid burning ants.

Torture works but the subject will say anything to get the interrogation to stop, so you are left with mounds of raw intel that has to be verified. In most cases the return on investment is negligible.

You mean like when they chop off someone's head with a machete and post the video on the interwebs?

Exactly. In order to be rationally consistent you have to think that there is nothing wrong with that.

yeah, but you don't think the world would frown upon them and unite against them in this day and age? tv, communication, social media, etc has come along way since then.

A vast knowledge of psychology is required to get info from torture, and levels are different for each individual. It is such a fine line that is constantly moving, it can only be done properly by experts

Torturing anyone for any reason is wrong. Why anyone would trust the gov't or the military to do this judiciously?

They had the will to do what they did. With modern weaponry...I don't know if anything stops them. Although it does change things. Firearms are a great equalizer. They were unmatched with bows and on horseback.

I really don't care if it's right or wrong, but I don't think it moves anything in the right direction. just creates more enemies.
