It’s called sweat equity, and we’d all be better off if everyone earned a little.

I definitely pay someone to do that at my house. I freaking hate that crap.
I had to do that at my parents growing up and hated it every single time

I enjoy it. I find seeing the fruits of my labor very satisfying.
So do I, but I enjoy it more the other 5 days of my week when I'm getting paid for it. When it's the weekend, though, I enjoy sleeping in and enjoying the fruits of my labor by paying Manuel and the boys to handle my landscaping so they, in turn, can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Also, Manuel y los chicos come on Friday afternoon to get the yard spiffy for the weekend because I'm not one of those pricks who enjoys fricking up his neighbor's weekend mornings (or mine, for that matter) by starting yardwork at the earliest fricking time possible.
If you do that, I hope you slip on the morning dew directly into the blades. I hope it takes a long time to bleed out and it hurts a lot, too.

quote:Yes, it does. Theirs look nice in the spring with the new flower beds and what not, but once the heat of summer sets in the LOVE of yard work fades away and they look like shite. My neatly trimmed and mowed lawn beats weeds and overgrown shrubbery any time. Deal with it.
No it fricking doesn't

I laughed REALLY hard at that. Like really hard

I enjoy it, but wouldn't want to do it every day. I enjoyed construction jobs I had every summer too. I get some satisfaction from the improvements I helped make. That was especially true with building houses. You would start the summer digging out foundations, and end it hanging mirrors, and putting in door knobs. The yard improvements give me the same feeling of a job done well.

What is it that people LOVE to do yard work? Does it give you an erection at the end of it and you have no energy at the end of the day to do anything else.
Some people like their yard to look nice and enjoy being outside working in it. What the frick is wrong with that? You fricks worry to goddamn much about what people do.
With that said, my brother tries to keep his yard flawless. During the summer he mows his grass twice a week, if weather permits. He wants it to look like a major league baseball field. He is also obsessed with his truck and wife's car being cleaned. And doesn't just give it a quick clean, he makes sure every inch of it is shining.
