How does one keep track of a fancy pen for so long? And why? I’ve got enough Hilton pens to last me a lifetime. If it runs out or I lose it (or someone pockets it).. I’ve got a drawer full. Is it a status symbol?

Fountain? Ballpoint? Rollerball? Gel?

What's your poison?

What pen are you refilling?

I'm making them, and want the best quality ink cartridges. Wouldn't mind knowing the highest quality kits, but i figured that was a long shot

Yes IMO.

Quick summary, traditionally there’s been two types of pens: ballpoint and fountain. Fountain pens put down beautiful, dark, smooth ink... but that’s about the only advantage. By contrast, ballpoints put down a thin, oily, light ink that isn’t very appealing but they’re cheap asf, reliable asf, last a long time, don’t have to constantly refill, can write anywhere, etc...

But then along came the rollerball, which essentially is the best of both worlds. High quality writing with the ease, convenience, and relative cheapness of a ballpoint. Won’t get quite the quality of a fountain, and sometimes that shitty oily ballpoint is the only thing that will write decent on some surfaces (like restaurant receipts), but overall a high quality rollerball is the way to go.
