OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Saturday night, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Office responded to a stabbing at Pecan Haven in Monroe.

Pecan Haven is a drug addition rehab center.

According to the affidavit, once deputies arrived on scene they witnessed several people holding down Rusty Clark. Clark, a patient at the center, is accused of stabbing one of the male nurses.

Police reports say the suspect stabbed the victim numerous times in the head and chest area.

He is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and carjacking. Clark's bond is set at $400,000.

Thank God, I work in hospice.

Even if I got stabbed there, I'd be keeping up the census.

Dude's a piece of shite. Hope they give him as much time possible.

Sometimes, in these rehabs, they have people with mental disorders who shouldn't be there but it's just a hard thing to spot when dealing with addicts. Is it the drugs or is the motherfricker really crazy? Thin line sometimes, bc often, it is just the drugs.

Wish a speedy recovery to the victim.

I'm glad I don't have to do direct patient care at all anymore. I'm in an office in the hospital that you need badge access to even get in the office. Right next to my cubicle is an exit door that leads straight out of the hospital that cannot be opened from the outside. And my cubicle is an a separate room with a door that locks.

So if any shite goes down at my hospital(mass shooting, etc)....we are locking the door and bolting out of the side door STAT.

I would absolutely hate to work in an ER. You never know what is gonna walk through that door and many of your patients could potentially assault you(which happens a good bit to ER staff....one of our ER docs got his nose broken by a patient not too long ago).

Tough situation. Clearly the dude is unstable and seems like he needs mental treatment. On the other hand you can't keep people there that are stabbing the staff.

Going to the ER at OLOL here in BR is like going into a heavy guarded facility. It's sad actually.

That's why you go to BRG on bluebonnet...OLOL has become the Cortana mall of hospitals

You also never know when that ER patient starts coughing, which airborne pandemic he is spreading, making your hospital ground-zero for the world's next plague.

Definitely. We even had to rush my dad to the one off O'Neal lane (ocshner?) one time and that was really calm and quick with great care. Surprised me bc I went there previously and they sucked.

That's another reason why I never wanted to work ED.

At least on the floor you got a heads up that they had something suspicious and could wear appropriate PPE

ETA: Now that I'm in infection control I've had to figure out what other patients and staff were exposed in the ER if a patient ends up having something like TB or chicken pox.

Never been to O'Neal. OLOL is just terrible now though. My dads cardio guys are at the lake and he hates it. The General is very nice and quiet. I have a few exes that are nurses at the lake and tell them I want to wear a bracelet saying "don't take me to OLOL" in case I'm unconscious

He needs to get the maximum penalty. I was attacked by a psychotic, agitated client in a psychiatric facility. He tore a leg off of a table and hit me in the head. I now have a titanium plate in my head. After trying unsuccessfully to press charges against him I was told that the best I could do was file a civil suit against him. I still work at the same facility and see the guy all the time!
