So it is silting in? I could see that maybe, it sure isn't building much marsh at the mouth like you would hope.

Screw that one lake bullshite. I’m sure it’s a perfect plan if you don’t consider anything no downstream.

Have you tried to run down the West from I-59 or even I-10?Unless you're on the river every week or so and know it well, you're going to run aground. Stick to the outermost banks in all the bends and pray you don't hit a sunken tree.

All of the tributaries and offshoots are silted in at their mouths. The mouth/entrance to the navigational canal literally has 3 inches of water draft when the river is at normal levels. You have to get out to walk and pull even the smallest boats - I have a 15ft flat with a 15hp tiller control motor on it and have to walk mine up.

It's ridiculous how silted in it is. It's a damn shame Corp has decided to cease dredging and refuses to reconsider or even do a study to see how bad it's gotten.

I am originally from the north shore but I had a friend in high school that lived in Bogalusa on a golf course (a very shitty looking golf course; we would jump the greens into the sand traps in his golf carts and 4wheeler). He always had big parties back then. I believe this is the same area you are talking about and if it is it was a very nice neighborhood. I find it hard to believe nice houses like his would have been in cancer alley. I could be wrong though. Cheers!

That’s the wildest part about it. Very nice homes and a very nice neighborhood. My wife has some family living there and they live very close to the plant. Multiple metal doors rotted away. Multiple AC units rusted out. One family member with cancer. Smells like nine kinds of hell when the wind blows wrong. The mill itself doesn’t smell so bad since the chemical plant left. But the effluent plant smells like death.
