harder to relearn all of this information the longer you are out of school

Then what's the point of getting your 4 years experience if you aren't even using the information in your "experience". I guess that's the point I'm trying to make. You probably use 20% of the information you learned in your career. Then you have to re-teach yourself the material again for the PE. What's the point of the 4 years experience then?

ETA: I'm saying this as someone who hasn't taken the exam and do not plan to. I have my experience already and then some, but my current path doesn't require it in the least. If I were to feel I would lose my job, or have a completely different direction within my company, I'd study and take the next available.

Good luck! I am going to be taking it next year in April (or so I hope). I have to start getting some study material together. I am also looking into getting my PE in 3 additional states as well... so we will see.

It kind of fricked me because I was eligible under the old rules to take the April 2015 exam since I had 3.5 years experience at the registration date. However, the new rules stipulate that unless you have 4 years at the registration date (which I don't), you are an "early taker."

I took the test 2 years ago with about 3.5 years experience but I couldn't be licensed until I had 4 years of experience. Good luck to whoever is taking it!
