re: Switching Jobs

I just changed within my company and took a 6% increase knowing my promition will be going thru in the next month. Just really depends if the new job ranks on what you think higher then your current 6.5 then I could take it with a small increase.

I have heard some good reviews about the The Rancis Southdown (not the BBQ) but might be a drive, and I haven't been but going to try it within the next few weeks.

re: 401k Advice

I have discovered that people think maxing out their 401k means the amount when truly saying they are putting their max contribution rate, unless like you said they are that 1% and just have to post on tigerdroppings to make themselves feel better.
I been thinking about ending my time with cable and just sticking to Hulu and Netflix, but as football season approaches I don't know how I am going to watch my games (both Auburn and LSU is what I care about)!! I do have an Apple TV and getting a Chromecast for my other TV.

Do you have any positives or negatives about the Chromecast?

Does anyone know how to watch football games online so I could stream it from my phone or laptop?

Should I just try and see for football season if I can have my cable service just for football season?

I was thinking about getting a Smart TV (wanted the internet base website), but I needed up talking myself out of that, unless someone can give me a good reason why. I just think after a few years it will be outdated for the processing speed and the software would outdated.

I haven't been to Martha Vineyard but did enjoy Cape Cod. Cape Cod you can go up into a light house and eat on the beach and just relax.

First figure out what is important to you what would you be okay skipping? I hardly ever plan a time with hotels unless it is a must and I dont normal care where I sleep. I would look into a hotel at Acadia and Boston and then just let the other days play out as needed.

Here is what I would do based on what I like:
Fly in and start my drive to Acadia spend about 2 days there (1 night maybe at the min depending on the time I get there on day 1 for Acadia), spend about 1-2 days (go on the county fall foliage roads) driving to Cape Cod spend a full day there possible 2 (again with the 1 night statement) then go back to Boston and finish up my trip.

Let me know whatelse I can do to help!
Spend at least 2 days in Boston (so much to do and see)I personally would end with Boston on your trip; you can spend anywhere from 1 to 2 days in Cape Cod (i would start there or be the second to last stop before Boston). Cape Cod is nice but there are so much more to do during the fall foliage that you might want to rethink that idea.
IF you are doing this in the Sept/Oct time check out the fall foliage and try to hit some of the peak time. It is absolutly amazing...I want to go back and do it by train if possible, but we ended up driving. Driving will let you find different and small towns to enjoy so rent and drive.
If you can and if you like hiking/sights/nature. I would say Acadia National park is a must. It was just so amazing. I would do anything and everything to get there. Spend at least 2 days there if you can. Then I would find some back roads to drive and do some fall foliage roads, pick up a mazagine or google them. There is a winery (Bar Harbor Cellars) that has some blueberry wine and other local wines to taste, they are only open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day 10-5.

I am jealous of your trip but enjoy it. Let me know if you have any questions.

re: How many dogs do you have?

Posted by AUTigerLSUSaints on 6/24/15 at 7:48 am to
Only 2 but sometimes my parents dog comes so 3...

The age range is 8 years, almost 2 and not even a 1 year old pup. The hardest part is feeding and walking all 3 dogs. So more walking for us... It isn't terrible but it is a little too much for me (2 of medium size dogs and one small one).

Now with the Pyrenees make sure you socialize the dog with people and animals often. They are prefect dogs but must have a very STRONG owner and always been in control. With the Pyrenees breed you will not have to worry too much about the puppiness the same way you would other dogs and they are just a gentle giant. If you ever want another dog with the Pyrenees then i would so get the pup now and when one of your pups goes get another as quickly as possible. We loved our Pyrenees one of the best things we ever did. He was an amazing dog and full of love, just remember they are protectors and will want to be around its family. Our was 13 yrs old before passing away... just such a great dog, he will always be my number 1 dog.

Oh and they very strong minded independent dogs, also watch his/her weight. Enjoy and best of luck!

Layoffs?

Are there a lot of layoffs in your area? I have noticed lately lots of small businesses are letting go a few people. But what surprises me that they are telling them the day before and not giving much notice is this normal? What is the correct way of going about this? Anyone company doing this right now?

My current job is just like that where I work 44 hr week 1 and week 2 36 hours. Per our company policy it states that if we take vacation and it is normal 9 hour day for us then it is 9 hours of vacation. If I worked normal 10 hrs a day (every Friday off) then it would be 10 hrs of vacation and so on.... Same if I had to take sick time or medical or whatever else it would be my normal hours let it be either 9 hrs (M-R) or 8 hrs for Friday. The only way it would work is if in the end you worked out a deal with your boss that you were totaling 80 hrs a per pay check (for biweekly pay) or whatever you should have for your pay period.

Now for us if our off day ends up on a holiday either A) we can bank the holiday and use later (ps holidays only count for 8 hours for us .... I complelty disagree if it is my normal 9 hour day then it should count for 9 hours but I then will either have to use 1 hour of vacation or 'make it up')
or B) use the day before or day after as my off day

Don't rock the boat but just check into the company policy if you want to know more, it is probably writen down somewhere....

Would you go? If you have gone is it worth it? SO and her bestfriend wants to go this summer... debating if I should tag along or let them have a girls night.
:wah: It is one of the worst feeling in the world. I am so sorry for you and your family. Give him his best day ever!

You are not killing your best friend you are protecting him and being his best friend just like he has done for you over the years.

Last year the dog I grew up with had to be put down it was terrible and hard but having my own dog at the time helped. Our other dog still misses him and looks for him time to time. The love we have for a dog is beyond amazing to me and we are so blessed and lucky to be able to feel that much love for an animal. It does not get easier but over time it will get better.

The memories you have will always be there, stay strong.

All I know is dogs are a million times more better than people and can make the strongest of men to cry when they have to watch their best friend past away.

Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love. They depart to teach us about loss. New dogs can never replace a former one – they merely expand the heart. If you have loved many dogs your heart is very big.

For you kids and for yourself have a funeral type process, have a day to remember you dog. Sometimes it can help to have a memorial service, including the entire family and friends who knew your pet. If you have a backyard, you can plant a tree or flowers in your pet's honor. Your children may want to help you plan this. - We did something like that and gave our dog a couple of toys that meant something to us and yet we kept a toy or two as well. Also, it may make some children better to keep something that their pet really loved-such as a collar, tag or favorite toy.

Here are some other ideas: (I am doing the first one for the one that past away last year).

•You and your child can gather up photographs of your pet to make into a photo album. This can be arranged chronologically, starting with pictures of when the animal was a baby. Your child can also include information about your pet's favorite toys, treats and things to do.
•Sitting down with the family and sharing memories of your pet can make your children sad--but it can make them laugh, too, and will help your child understand that everyone is feeling the loss as well. - We still do this time to time, so many good memories.
Although your child may not feel like it, it can help to engage in his or her regular activities-such as going to practice or rehearsal after school, playing outside or going for a bike ride.
•Give your child one of the books on pet loss from the list below. They are written specially for children.

re: Advice for Boston

Posted by AUTigerLSUSaints on 4/13/15 at 7:42 am to
I am a fan of driving to Cape Cod.
For Boston the must is Freedom Trail

I would suggest to eat at Quincy Market
Check out Harvard and MIT/Cambridge area
If you love Italian food just go to North End and find something that peaks your food craving. Boston Common is pretty neat too.

Enjoy!
Really watch your time and plan it out (to a degree). Cape Cod you can spend at least 2 days (1 day was not enough for me) there are light house you can go up and plently to see, and there is a place where you can eat on the beach and just park on the beach, Boston you would need at least 2 days if not more. NYC yeah more than a day, Niagara Falls you will need to be on the Canada Side (do not waste your time on the US side).

Boston if you love Italian food there are many to choose from but just go into "Little Italy" and find a place.

For Boston if you like the history side do part of the Freedom Trail and if you want more view out side the city look at the Mohawk Trail Massachusetts.

You will defently want to go back in the Fall.

If you were going up into Maine I would say Acadia National Park would be worth every minute.

If you need some more help just let me know.

Has anyone hear of them? There is one opening up near my house within the next few weeks. Is it worth going there?
