I don't rate my pain very high on a scale.I've had a knee replacement. That was pain.
There was a lady at the Physical Therapist one day screaming every time the touched her right shoulder.Rated the pain at 10.All the while operating her Phone with her right hand.

So if you need Opiates your automatically a junkie?? Get the frick out of her with this bullshite. Yes a lot of people fake there pain level but it's up to the Doctor to determine that. And if a doctor thinks a patient is a junky just because he needs something a little strong than ibuprofen then he shouldn't be a doctor

I am guessing you never witnessed sub- human addict trying to score in ER
And I've never had someone try and goad me into committing fraud - actually it happens all the time - but I don't come online to complain about it. It's his fricking job (i also wish he would make an effort to get the addict some proper care if he is actually concerned about the welfare of his patient.

Do you have a surgical option? I don't know if you do or don't but ignorant of your specific situation hate to think opiates is your only option (might be?)

So the state legislature is trying to pass legislation that doctors can only write 7 days worth of opiates at a time. lol

I was in a Jersey City ER one time and the junkie was just in there screaming - it was all a show to get drugs, and there was nothing that could be done by the doctors

I know its true, its an epidemic. I hope they would maybe consider trying to get that person into some sort of maintenance program along with counseling (aka outpatient rehab) but I know the patient has to also be willing to take part in that.
The reality of it is that many of these cases (I won't say most because i doubt there are any reliable numbers on the subject) originally came out of people who were prescribed medication for legitimate pain - it has certainly gone far beyond that at this point though. Then their brain chemistry gets rewired and they need medication for more than just pain at this point, depression, anxiety, lack of motivation to get out of bed, stomach issues, etc. all follow and they need proper help and care in order to get their selves back in working order.
A medical care professional acting high and mighty regarding the current painkiller problem is hilarious. If you want to view / treat all patients as pill seeking junkies then a person can also reasonably view all doctors as greedy drug dealers with a lab coat and a prescription pad. It was doctors (primarily in Florida) that started this mess - if you don't believe me, go watch the documentary Oxycontin Express from Vice I believe.
- sorry if I came off a little strong. I had two very good friends die after a doctor prescribed 4x the recommended amount of methodone to them when they were trying to get help for their problems. I also don't believe they were the only two that died. That doctor is now in jail I believe though.
