Step dad sounds trashy as frick
And if giving him money is his idea of smoothing things over, he's even trashier.
Tell your friend to tell his step dad that you told him thank you when you dropped the car off and that when you came back to pick it up, you assumed no one was home since you were retrieving your keys out of the bushes....but if he still has a problem, tell him to meet you at Sonic.

The friend who told me this also said that he shot a few bucks his way to kind of smooth things over if I want to pitch in.

You get stepdads phone number.
Call him and say these words:
"Hey man I've been meaning to say quit acting like a bitch, you put my keys in the fricking bushes, if you wanted to talk to me why didn't you keep them on you. Next football season don't bother coming to the tailgate. "
Then move on with your life.
Oh and grow up.

Sounds like the guy saved you approximately $150. Buy him a nice bottle of whatever his drink of choice is and send a handwritten thank you note to the guy and his wife. Say that you hope that you can return the favor in the future.
That's what an adult would do.

I'd frick the guy's wife , and his daughter.
I mean if he's gonna be mad anyway.

frick all this bullshite about thanking the step dad again. He parked at his house that's it. The stepdad literally didn't have to do anything. It's not like the stepdad washed, waxed, and changed his oil for him. He let a car sit in front of his house for two weeks, unless there is more to the story, like some HOA nazis, then I don't see what the stepdad is so upset about. Besides, he put the keys in the bushes that's a crystal clear sign that I don't need to see you when you come get your car.
