Remember that site from many years back? No butthole no care? Something like that....
Social media literacy and cell phone literacy is a crucial topic that needs to be taught to kids at a very early age. Even before they're using them.
There was a story a few years ago about a boy who got catfished online and duped into sending nudes to a "girl." Then the scammer told him he would send the pics to his family and friends, so the boy kileld himself.

The only videos we had growing up was the old reel projectors with no sound. Only dad had the skills to work them. So, we would have never gotten in trouble from dad's videos. Camcorders came when I already had kids so I'm glad I had no video evidence of me doing the stupid high school or college stuff etc.

PARENTal controls should be on every phone, and PARENTS shouldn't be fricking stupid enough to let them download Snapchat, where all of these little miscreants think they're safe somehow. PARENTS are supposed to read the terms of service, and read a two page review on any rando tech site which tells you that's not how Snapchat and many others work (deletion, no screenshots of content, etc.)
But PARENTS don't. Are you picking up on the theme, PARENTS?

We have drilled it into our kids heads from day 1 when they got phones.
When my daughter started high school at a private school the principal addressed all the 8th grade parents at an orientation.
This was several years ago and she majorly stressed how important it was to not send/post stupid stuff. Her example was a student the previous year who sent pictures of her vagina to a few people. Of course a few people turned into many and the principal called the parents in for a meeting.
The stupid dad tried to argue that it wasn’t his daughter’s cooter. The principal shite that argument down with the quickness and told him the girl can’t be sending pictures like that.
Had a friend who was on a text string where some bullying was taking place. Just by being on that text group and making a comment(innocently), my friends kid was suspended and got a zero on a major mid term test.

I recommend a program like Bark on the kid's phones, especially younger kids, and if they object then they do not have a phone.
Part of the problem is the adults who want to sexualize children at an early age amd expose them to things they are not ready for then penalize them when they text inappropriate things.
One of my child's friends got in trouble for asking if a new child at school was transgender. The penis possessing child had long pink hair and wore feminine clothes. They backed off any punishment when asked if kids got in trouble for misgendering others and how are they to know?

My friend is a principal at a middle school and can confirm this is a huge huge problem.
