That is the point of every thread on the OT.

Take my advice, a 3 year old is not going to have the reflexes to catch a ball nor the coordination or attention span to learn how to do much more than run the bases successfully. If you insist on putting a 3 year old out there do not do so with any higher expectations than them having fun and wanting to come back next year.
If she is playing on a team with older kids (5+) do not let her play in the infield or there's a good chance she will not be able to get out of the way of a well hit ball. And yes, some 5 & 6 year old kids can hit a ball pretty hard. Watch her like a hawk during games and make sure she is watching what is going on around her.

The ones I posted from Zappos were cooler. The front cleat is a bit dangerous for the other kids, but hey...who gives a shite about them?

What about the bat? How the hell do you expect this girl to develop into the next Jennie Finch without a $250+ t-ball bat? She's going to be ridiculed right off the field and then never want to play again....All because you were too checp to get her a bat!

no way in hell his 2 (almost 3) year old is going to be on the same field as 5-6 year olds.
Chances are his kid is just out there just to wear a uniform and get new cleats. She has no idea why she even needs cleats except the fact that her daddy told her she did.

Make sure you get the one with the 100 day guarantee in case she splits it or puts a flat spot on it during batting practice. Those new $350.00 Eastons have been looking like golf balls after BP lately.

I hope you're right. To be honest, IMO, 3 is simply too young to be out there period. Four is pushing it.

I've got my first practice tonight with my daughter's t-ball team. My roster is about half 4 yr olds and half 3 year olds with my daughter who is 5. To be honest, my focus this year is going to be only on making sure none of the kids get hurt, they have fun, and learn what they can at that age. I honestly don't even expect to spend much time teaching them how to catch since most of them don't even have the reflexes developed to actually catch a ball. I'm going to focus more on teaching throwing and work on their swing.

95% of 3-5 year old kids cant catch. shite, I know some 7,8,9 year old kids that still cant catch a baseball thrown underhanded to them.

Seems like they learn to hit, then catch, then field. Of course, this 2 1/2 year old is probably a 5 tooler already.

She'll never amount to anything with cheap Academy gear, didn't anyone ever tell you that place is like the Walmart of sporting good stores.

Exactly. They just don't have the reflexes. My little girl is 5 and even a soft underhand toss to her is usually not moved on until about a second or two after it hits her glove.
My biggest concern due to this is having a kid out there in the infield who cannot defend themselves against a hit. I know all the moms want to see their kid paying pitcher, or short stop or whatever. But I've got to put the kid's safety first. Hate to say but unless I see something I don't expect to see, the 3 yr old parents are going to have to understand their kids will spend most or all the time in the outfield.
