As a parent, I would not drop the financial responsibility as long as she was still in high school. They are not necessarily obligated to pay for private school, but they are obligated to make sure she graduates. Once she graduates they can cut her off.

Gonna respectfully disagree. If the young lady feels she is grown, then she should do what grown folks do.... Support herself.

This lawyer is a dick. Betting the shite head bf is not white and he feels like a race crusader.

Like others have said, as far as I know she's an adult and there's no legal obligation for her to even go to high school, much less be supported by her parents. Unless there's a crazy NJ statute I don't know about, this case should be tossed and her lawyer sanctioned.

Agree with this. That said, it's pretty funny how people are constantly after the media for making shite up, but they take a fragment of a sentence in the midst of a long article as absolute truth.

There is zero detail about why any of this happened. They simply very vaguely said she was dating someone who is a "bad influence".. Which could mean ANYTHING. They could just not like her dating.

Not siding with her, but if an attorney is letting her stay over and taking this case, there's more to the story than her being an entitled teen.

What an absolute fuking mess this country is that this case would even be heard, much less that a spoiled rotten piece of dogshit child could be raised that rotten and the parents almost apologetic as not being draconian in their parenting. Fuk that. Maybe you should have been, and you wouldn't have raised such a steaming pile of dogshit daughter.

What you should have done a long time ago is spank her little fanny and not spoil her with money. She needed switches not money. Send her little arse to public school and tell her to make her own way in the world like everyone else has to.

Makes me want to vomit all over the lot of them. Every single one from the parents to the child to the court system alike. Humans really are becoming repulsive.

There's nothing wrong with me. Stuff like this SHOULD piss you the F off. Not being pissed off or being calloused to it is a much bigger problem.

What America needs is to get pissed off.

Not saying the girl is in the right.. because I have no idea what happened. But I think it's pretty ridiculous to assume she MUST be in wrong because half of a sentence says she did something wrong and gives no detail.

I follow this forum with people who have the most insane parents. (Not 18 year olds.. people in their 30s-40s who tell the stories of it) And it is insane what kind of loons procreate.

LL, the only thing parents owe you is food, clothing, a roof over your head, and basic needs cared for. That's it. They don't owe this little shite college, or an apology for setting rules in their home under their roof. A home is not a democracy. It's a monarchy with the king and queen who pay the bills setting the rules. You abide by them, and when you don't like them, you get your own kingdom, and then YOU can make the rules.

That's it.

Parents don't put their babies on the street easily. Except for extreme whackadoos, it's a terribly tough thing to do.

I'm going to blindly side with the parents because I remember how reasonable I was at 18.

This. Especially wealthy parents. If she wants to be an adult and make her own rules, well here's her chance.

I never said they owe her anything. But she claims they kicked her out and they claim she left on her own. Just because they popped out a kid doesn't magically mean they're the ones telling the truth. It doesn't mean she is either. We don't fricking know. It's quite plausible they made up "rule breaking" and went blabbing about how much they love their little angel to save face.. Just like its quite plausible she's a spoiled brat who is trying to get her way.

We. Don't. Know.

I've never had an issue with my parents and they've always trusted my decisions so maybe I'm biased and giving her too much credit.
